Frequently Asked Questions
We will be more than happy to answer any additional questions you may have regarding this Sol Excursion. Please contact us for answers to all of your questions and to begin planning a trip that will change the way you view the world!
Q. Will I need a passport?
A. Yes. You can get one at many US Post Offices and any Clerk of Courts Office
Q. Can I/we get certified to scuba dive while in Roatan?
A. Yes, for an additional fee. Contact Us to learn more.
Q. How well supervised are the students?
A. This is where SOL Excursions is different from many companies. Our staff has the necessary experience to ensure that all students get the personal attention they need, enabling them to get the most out of each activity. Groups will maintain a 5:1 student to staff ratio.
Q. Is it safe to travel to Honduras?
A. Roatan is extremely safe to travel to. As a part of the Bay Islands, Roatan is well equipped and prepared to maintain a safe environment to tourists. Roatan sees thousands of visitors each month via cruise ships, travelers and foreign residents. Furthermore, students will be staying at Anthony’s Key Resort who is accustomed to serving their clients and providing a safe environment. Brandon Raab has spent significant time in the Bay Islands over the last 10 years and David Elmore has spent time in Roatan over the last 4 years. We know the island and those who provide all our services on a personal basis.
Q. How much spending money do students need to bring?
A. All of the expenses for lodging, food, transportation and activities are included in the price. Students will only need spending money for additional snacks, souvenirs and gratuities.
Q. Will I be able to stay in touch with home?
A. Yes. Participants will have access to phones, email and fax machines throughout the trip and can be used for additional costs.
Q. Is there a medical facility available to the students?
A. Yes. There is a clinic on the property and doctors are on call 24/7. The cost of each doctor visit is $5 plus the cost of prescribed medications. There is also Clinica Esperanza who serves SOL Excursion participants.
